EXPERIMENTS
Experiments
DEFINITION
In Burned Illusions, an experiment is one small, specific action you try in real life, planned in advance and followed up afterwards with what actually happened.
Burned Illusions is a Personal Change OS designed to help people observe patterns in their own lives, test small changes, and learn what actually helps them move toward the life they want.
WHY EXPERIMENT INSTEAD OF DECIDE
A decision asks you to be certain in advance. An experiment only asks you to find out. That difference lowers the cost of trying and makes honesty easier afterwards.
An experiment cannot fail. It can only return a result you did not expect.
WHAT MAKES A GOOD ONE
It is small enough to do on a bad day. It is specific about when and where. It has one thing you will notice afterwards — discomfort, relief, the other person's reaction, what you did next.
Predicted discomfort is written before. Actual discomfort is written after. Keeping them apart is what makes the result worth anything.
FROM ONE ATTEMPT TO A PATTERN
Repeat the same experiment in different situations before drawing conclusions. Patterns live in repetition, not in single events.
When several attempts point the same way, that becomes evidence you can build on — and the basis for the next, slightly larger step.
IN SHORT
- Small, specific, and doable on a bad day.
- Plan the prediction; record the outcome separately.
- Repeat before concluding.
- No result is a failure — only information.
THE WORKING LOOP
MAP → PRACTICE → OBSERVE → LEARN → ADAPT
- MAP
- Describe what actually happens: context, trigger, feeling, interpretation, impulse, action, consequence.
- PRACTICE
- Choose one small, safe step and try it in real life.
- OBSERVE
- Record what actually happened — not what should have happened.
- LEARN
- Look at several observations together and see what repeats.
- ADAPT
- Adjust the next step based on your own evidence — and start again.
THE FIVE PHASES
- 01Identity & fear
- 02Control & truth
- 03Purpose, love & death
- 04Freedom, acceptance & gratitude
- 05Presence, forgiveness & relationships
