RELATIONSHIPS
Relationships
DEFINITION
In Burned Illusions, relationships are treated as the place where personal patterns become visible fastest — in closeness, conflict, honesty and repair — and where small changes are felt soonest.
Burned Illusions is a Personal Change OS designed to help people observe patterns in their own lives, test small changes, and learn what actually helps them move toward the life they want.
OTHER PEOPLE AS A MIRROR, NOT A VERDICT
The way you react close to someone else says something about you, not only about them. That is not blame; it is a reliable source of information.
You do not need the other person to change in order to study your own part of the pattern.
CLOSENESS, CONFLICT AND REPAIR
Most relational difficulty is not caused by a single event but by what happens after it: whether anyone comes back, says what was true, and repairs.
Observing your own repair behaviour over time is often more useful than analysing any one argument.
WORKING ON IT WITHOUT MAKING IT A PROJECT
Choose one small step: say one true thing you would normally skip, or stay five minutes longer in a conversation that feels uncomfortable.
Then record what happened in you and between you. Small, repeated steps change relationships more reliably than a single long conversation.
IN SHORT
- Relationships reveal patterns faster than solitude does.
- Studying your own part is not the same as taking all the blame.
- Repair matters more than avoiding conflict.
- Small, repeated honesty beats one big talk.
THE WORKING LOOP
MAP → PRACTICE → OBSERVE → LEARN → ADAPT
- MAP
- Describe what actually happens: context, trigger, feeling, interpretation, impulse, action, consequence.
- PRACTICE
- Choose one small, safe step and try it in real life.
- OBSERVE
- Record what actually happened — not what should have happened.
- LEARN
- Look at several observations together and see what repeats.
- ADAPT
- Adjust the next step based on your own evidence — and start again.
THE FIVE PHASES
- 01Identity & fear
- 02Control & truth
- 03Purpose, love & death
- 04Freedom, acceptance & gratitude
- 05Presence, forgiveness & relationships
