EVIDENCE AND INSIGHTS
Evidence and insights
DEFINITION
In Burned Illusions, an insight is a suggested interpretation of your own recorded observations, always shown together with the evidence it is based on, so you can accept it, adjust it or reject it.
Burned Illusions is a Personal Change OS designed to help people observe patterns in their own lives, test small changes, and learn what actually helps them move toward the life they want.
YOUR OBSERVATIONS VERSUS THE SYSTEM'S INTERPRETATIONS
What you wrote is yours and stays unchanged. What the system suggests is a reading of that material — never a diagnosis, never a fact about who you are.
The two are kept visibly apart, so you always know which is which.
WHY EVERY INSIGHT SHOWS ITS SOURCE
Each suggested pattern links back to the entries behind it. If the evidence is thin, you can see that it is thin.
A conclusion you cannot check is a story. A conclusion you can check is something to test.
HOW TO USE AN INSIGHT
Treat it as a hypothesis, not a verdict. Ask what would have to be true if it were right, then design a small experiment that would show it.
Insights that survive contact with real life become useful. The rest can simply be discarded.
IN SHORT
- Insights are hypotheses with visible evidence.
- Your own entries are never rewritten or interpreted away.
- Thin evidence is shown as thin evidence.
- The next step after an insight is an experiment, not a label.
THE WORKING LOOP
MAP → PRACTICE → OBSERVE → LEARN → ADAPT
- MAP
- Describe what actually happens: context, trigger, feeling, interpretation, impulse, action, consequence.
- PRACTICE
- Choose one small, safe step and try it in real life.
- OBSERVE
- Record what actually happened — not what should have happened.
- LEARN
- Look at several observations together and see what repeats.
- ADAPT
- Adjust the next step based on your own evidence — and start again.
THE FIVE PHASES
- 01Identity & fear
- 02Control & truth
- 03Purpose, love & death
- 04Freedom, acceptance & gratitude
- 05Presence, forgiveness & relationships
